March 28, 2019 – Log Cabin Bear Claw

This beautiful log cabin bear claw quilt provided the perfect opportunity for winter themed designs. The pine trees were echo stitched and then three sizes of a tree without a trunk were added inside. The flying geese borders were stitched with the Cactus Flower Flying Geese design by Pam Clarke (Home Stitches). The dark sections of each log cabin were stitched with the Yuletide triangle block 1 design by Jessica Schick (Digi-Tech). The red centers of each log cabin were stitched with a pine cone. The bear claw blocks were stitched as follows: a bear in each square, echo stitch in the triangular points of the claw, a star in the center, and Garden Bunny curved cross hatch design by Donna Kleinke (One Song Needle Arts) in the sashing between claws. The off-white background was stitched with individual snowflakes/8-point stars and pine trees using light beige thread.

February 28, 2019 – Stars Table Topper

This square table topper is a beautiful demonstration of incorporating stars, log cabins, squares, and triangles in one project. There were a total of 29 stars in three different sizes and 20 log cabin blocks in the borders. The log cabin blocks were quilted using the Fondant design by Jessica Schick (Urban Elementz). The center of the stars were quilted using an eight-leaf button flower and the star tips were stitched in the ditch replicating a triangle. The checker board squares were stitched with diagonal lines. The inner border triangles were quilted with the Snapdragon design by Patricia Ritter (Urban Elementz). The thread used was a cashew beige color.

February 11, 2019 – Tribal Table Runner

This beautiful table runner was pieced with fabrics purchased in Africa (backing was from local vendor). The dimensions are actually 18″ x 92″. In order to give the quilt movement, it was quilted with mushroom beige thread using the design Spiral Rings by Irene Steele (Willow Leaf Studios). What a beautiful memento from a unique trip.

January 5, 2019 – Vintage Dresden Plate

The blades of this beautiful vintage Dresden Plate (lap-size) quilt were appliqued by the customer, and the borders were pieced using remnants of the same fabric. The quilt was custom quilted using pearl (off white) colored thread. Several items, including the blades, corners, circles and white background areas, were individually quilted using designs from the Dresden Blade Quilt set available through Wasatch Quilting. The customer will display this quilt as a wall hanging or table topper. Working on this amazing project was a great way to bring in the new year.
