October 1, 2017 – Charity Quilts (cont’d)

Both of the above charity quilts were pieced using the basic strip quilt method. The one with black trim was cut in half and then pieced together with black sashing and borders. It was quilted with white thread using the Modern Squares design by Denise Schillinger (Digi-Tech). Instead of the usual horizontal strip piecing, the second quilt was pieced vertically and surrounded with yellow borders. It was quilted with yellow thread using the Passion Fruit design by Hermione Agee (Digi-Tech).

September 19, 2017 – Modern Floral Counted Cross Stitch Quilt & Shams

The beautiful counted cross stitching on this queen size quilt and pillow shams was done by hand by our customer and her sister. The counted cross stitch design and the quilting design were all pre-printed on white fabric. When the counted cross stitching was done, the three panels of the quilt were sewn together with vertical seams. The quilt top and shams were custom quilted with snow white thread. After stitching the pre-printed quilt design, button flowers in various sizes were added and shapes were outlined and echo stitched. The quilt was finished with a label and hand binding. When the quilting was done on the pillow sham panels, they were made into shams with overlapping backs.
